Fishing With My Dad

from william borg schmitt by Will Schmitt

/

lyrics

I’ve got my Osh Kosh denim and Iowa Hawkeye t shirt on
Sharing a Cherry Mash with my dad and Greg
We’re driving our yellow pick up through the country
A Prairie Home Companion on the radio

Its Sunday afternoon and church is over
And school will be starting again soon
Its a July ’89 Madison County summer and I’m glad
To be spending this time going fishing with my dad

The crappie are always biting down at Cedar Lake
And the fish at the Skoga know that grasshoppers taste great
Sometimes only chiggers are biting down at the farm pond
But the Middle River catfish keep on floating along

And maybe I’ll catch a big one maybe the fish’ll all be at church
its really not that important to me
‘Cause its a July ’89 Madison County summer and I’m glad
To be spending this time going fishing with my dad.
